8/5/09 - Well, well... I can finally announce, after so many months, and with all confidence - Island Flavors is coming soon to your nearest bookstore! It's pretty much a compilation of everything I've ate my way through this past couple of years, and with over 500 restaurants listed throughout just over 200 pages, it will be, by far, the most comprehensive book available on the subject, bar none! Not sure what you've seen out there, but there are several books on food and restaurants on the island, but most of them specialize only in a specific food group, and the one's that do attempt any sort of comprehensiveness fall 300+ to 400+ restaurants short, quite literally, of the 500 eateries Island Flavors includes!
It's pretty much done in the same style I do the site in, so if you enjoy the site, you'll definitely enjoy the book! There are about 180 pages of text, cram-packed with to-the-point, useful, and hopefully enjoyable bits of information, all interspersed with small black and white shots to break the monotony. In addition, there are two 16-page sections of larger, full-color shots, all set in cool graphic designs by Anthony Sclavi, the Kool Kat that was so incredibly helpful with the design of this entire book, including the cover work you see here today. He's definitely The Man!

Yup, it's pretty much a done deal now, as the book is already being printed as we speak, and I'm currently ironing-out contracts with the biggest distributor of books in the State, which means you should find Island Flavors at Borders, Barnes and Nobles, Wal-Mart, Costco, and other major outlets around town in about a month, maybe two. Of course, I'm gonna sell them through the site, as well, as soon as I get the store up sometime in the next couple of weeks, and I will be taking pre-order's. The good thing about getting 'em through the site is that I can send 'em to you as soon as they arrive at the docks (I'm the one that's gonna go pick them up), as you know how it is with these big retailers - some can take over a month to finally get the books on their shelves! I already have many requests by those wanting to order several books to hand-out as Christmas gifts! Purchase Island Flavors through the site, and I'll even throw-in shipping free to those with addresses in the 50th State, and charge you only 5 cents in tax on the $19.95 book! Or is that no tax, and 5 cents in shipping and handling? Hmm... I'll figure it all out before the store comes up, and get into more details through the store itself, when it's completed!
Like the site, I've definitely put my heart and soul into this book, so I really do hope everyone finds it helpful! For now, the delivery date is set for no later than Sept 1, but possibly sooner, so stay tuned for more info...
